Celebrations of New Beginnings – KEIGH’s 25th Anniversary
9th September 2015
We’re very proud to have been named a major sponsor of Keighley & Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA) International Older People’s Day annual luncheon.
The event, held at Keighley’s Victoria Hall on 29th September is a 1940s themed afternoon of celebrations for people from that era. The ticket only event will have a range of activities from live bands singing songs from time’s past, two-course meal, stalls and entertainment. It’s starts at 10am with coffee on arrival.
A1’s sponsorship is part of its strategy to help combat loneliness among the elderly, following its partnership earlier this year with Friends of the Elderly charity’s Be A Friend campaign. According to the charity, over five million older people are affected by loneliness in the UK and more than one million say they are often lonely and this number is predicted to increase 40 per cent by 2030. As part of the campaign A1 runs, regular afternoon tea parties in its showroom on South Street in Keighley.
Said A1 Stairlift Services md, Simon Harrison: “We’re big believers in supporting the local community, particularly among the elderly as with work with these people day-in, day out and see the affect that loneliness has on their health. This is a great opportunity for them to get together for a bit of fun and nostalgia and we’re very much looking forward to being a part of it.”
Home Instead, Ilkley’s premium care provider, specialising in non-medical care for the elderly, has also been named as a major sponsor.
A1 Stairlift’s specialises in mobility products and its showroom has a range of mobility products including stairlifts, scooters, adjustable beds, rise and recline chairs and everyday living aids.
Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from Central Hall in Keighley.
